New altar furnishings

posted 23 Mar 2010, 08:42 by Timothy L'Estrange
The high altar of our church is looking resplendent. The new purple altar frontal was purchased for the church by subscription, with many different parishioners and church groups contributing towards the cost. The purple frontal is used during the penitential seasons of Advent (before Christmas) and Lent (before Easter).

The new altar candles were donated anonymously; their design is an improvement on the previous ones, and is helping to prevent spillage of wax. Additionally they are bright and shiny, whereas the older ones (which had seen many years of use) had become tarnished and dull.

Finally, another anonymous donor, impressed by the new candles, very kindly gave the church a splendid new altar cross with a 'lamb and flag' emblem at its centre.

We are grateful to all those whose kind donations help to keep our church looking beautiful, to the glory of God.
