Student Evensong

posted 30 Mar 2010, 04:18 by Timothy L'Estrange
On Palm Sunday our usual Evening Prayer at 6.30pm was student-driven. On the organ stool we had Edward Dean, an organ scholar, and student of the Royal School of Music. His talented playing was an inspiration, much enjoyed by all present. Meanwhile, the office was led and presided over by our resident theological student Ben Thompson, of Oak Hill theological college. The Rector sat in choir, and gave the final blessing.

Although this particular service tends to attract an older congregation, it was refreshing to have the service led by the young folk, and everyone appreciated this peaceful end to a busy day in the life of our church.

The photograph shows theological student Ben Thompson (left) and the Rector (right) at the end of the service, standing in the chancel, with the high altar behind them.
