Hadley Green lies in front of the church and Hadley Common behind it, and couples have been married here for centuries. A wedding at St Mary's is a parish occasion as much as a family one. The bells go, the neighbours come out, and you make your promises in a building that has held them since long before any of us.
If you are thinking of marrying here, or of asking God's blessing on your life together, the Rector would be glad to talk it over with you. That is as true for same-sex couples as for anyone else.

How do I arrange a wedding?

Do I have to get married on a Saturday?
Not at all, we can arrange a wedding on any day of the week. There are only a few days for which we cannot arrange, including Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Day, or Christmas Day.
Can anyone get married at St Mary's?
Couples can marry in churches that have a special significance for them. This is called a 'qualifying connection' - see the Church of England weddings website for details.
Can I get married in church if I am divorced?
Yes. Marriage after divorce is possible at St Mary's, and we would be glad to talk it through with you.
The decision rests with the parish priest, and here the answer is normally yes. There's a conversation to have first about what has happened, and what you hope for now, but it is a conversation, not an examination.

If you are already married
If you married in a register office, or abroad, or some years ago, you would be very welcome to come and ask God's blessing on your life together.
Do come and talk to The Rev'd Francesco Aresco about what that might look like. Nothing needs to be settled first.
