Keep in touch with news from the parish
Some of the best conversations in this parish happen in the evening, in the Rectory, with a book open on the table.
Through the year we gather for talks and short courses. Recent ones have been on Christian art, on the Eucharist, on the Anglican poets, on loneliness in Scripture, and on how to read the Bible. In Advent and Lent we read something together, a few chapters a week, sometimes a novel and sometimes an old spiritual classic. Lately it has been Jane Eyre, and Thomas Traherne's Centuries of Meditations.
We meet in the Rectory on Hadley Common, by the fire when the evening is cold. There is wine, or ginger ale, or water, and crisps and nuts on the table. Nobody is tested, and nobody needs to have read anything beforehand. People come with questions they have carried for years without anywhere to ask them, and find that others have carried the same ones. We go home understanding our faith a little better than we did, and having enjoyed one another's company on the way.

The English Conversation Group
The Rectory is also home to a weekly conversation group for anyone whose first language is not English, at any level. It meets on Thursday mornings at 10 am, and everyone is welcome.
