Welcomers

The first face you see on a Sunday is a welcomer at the door, with a hymn book and a service sheet and an eye out for anyone new. The welcomers also take the collection and bring up the bread and wine. They work to a rota.

Servers

The servers carry the cross and the candles, and those licensed by the Bishop assist in giving communion. The cross is always carried by one of the choristers. Janet Clarke looks after the servers.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild prepares the altar for Holy Communion. They lay out the linen, clean the silver and set out the bread, the wine and the water, so that everything is in its place before the service begins. It is quiet, careful work, and new members are shown what to do. Janet Clarke looks after the Altar Guild too.

Readers' Guild

Members of the congregation read the lessons at the main service. Readers are on a rota and read about once every month or two. If you would like to join them, tell one of the churchwardens.

Intercessors' Guild

The prayers at Holy Communion are written and led by members of the congregation, in their own words, for the sick and the departed and for whatever the week has brought, near and far. Intercessors are on a rota and lead about once every month or two. If you would like to join them, tell one of the churchwardens.

The Pit Crew

On the third Sunday of the month, at the family service, the readings and the prayers are taken by the Pit Crew, our children and teenagers. They read the lessons and lead the prayers themselves, and they do it very well.

Visiting

A few of us visit those who are ill, or who can no longer get to church, at home. If you know someone who would like a visit, please tell the Rector.
